Dr Jeremy John Mathan is a Melbourne trained Cataract and Comprehensive Ophthalmic Surgeon. He completed his ophthalmology training through the prestigious Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and currently holds public appointments as a consultant Ophthalmologist both at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and the Royal Children's Hospital.

He has widely published in national and international journals and was awarded the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists' Professor John Parr trophy for best paper presentation for his work on stem cells in corneal regeneration in 2014.

He has gained extensive experience in complex cataracts for both adults and paediatric patients. He undertook additional subspecialty fellowship training at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne specialising in complex paediatric cataract surgery, strabismus and oculoplastic surgery.

Additionally, he is able to provide care for diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, glaucoma, uveitis, paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. Further to surgical management of cataract, pterygium and paediatric cases, he is able to perform intravitreal injections, and laser treatments for specific eye conditions. He takes great pride in providing high quality surgical care for patients.
