Dr Jennifer Fan Gaskin (MBChB, MD, FRANZCO) is a cataract and glaucoma specialist.

She is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and Principal Investigator at the Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA) where she leads Ocular Fibrosis Research.

She is passionate about eradicating glaucoma blindness, whether by meticulous medical management, state-of-the-art surgery, or a tireless pursuit of new treatment options through her research. She believes every patient deserves individual time and care.

Dr Fan Gaskin realised her passion for Ophthalmology during her Ophthalmology rotation at the University of Auckland’s Medical School. After graduating with Distinction, she pursued an anterior segment research fellowship and completed a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) thesis on keratoconus. Following her Ophthalmology training in New Zealand, she undertook two clinical glaucoma fellowships in 2013-14 in Auckland and Melbourne, respectively. She was then actively recruited to continue with Melbourne’s Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital as a Consultant Ophthalmologist. She was also offered a sought-after position at the CERA’s Glaucoma Unit as a clinical researcher.

Dr Fan Gaskin is committed to upholding the high standard of ophthalmic care in Australasia. She is a regular presenter at local, national and international Ophthalmology conferences on glaucoma and her latest research innovations. She is actively involved with RANZCO and the greater ophthalmic community in the following roles:
