Dr Lingwei William Tao is a subspeciality-trained ophthalmologist who has completed fellowships in both glaucoma and paediatrics.

William obtained undergraduate medical training at The University of Melbourne (MBBS and BMedSc) in 2012 and was awarded the Undergraduate Ophthalmology Prize Exam. He has completed his Masters of Medicine (Ophthalmic Science) at The University of Sydney in 2016. William spent his junior medical career at Alfred Health before completing his ophthalmology training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital.

Dr Tao’s interests include glaucoma, cataract, pterygium, diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. He is dedicated to delivering comprehensive management and can perform intravitreal injections and laser for both glaucoma and retinal conditions.

Dr Tao has additional sub-speciality training in adult and paediatric glaucoma as well as general ophthalmology, completing his fellowships at The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear hospital and The Royal Children’s Hospital.

He holds public consultant appointments at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, the Royal Children’s Hospital and Eastern Health. He operates privately at Manningham Private Hospital, Waverley Private Hospital, Corymbia Day Hospital and Victoria Parade Surgery Centre.
